In Former Glory there are three types of jobs to choose from. Think carefully before picking your career because it will determine what type of missions your character will take on, and how much they will be paid. Try your best to pick a career that fits your character's personality. Below is a basic description of each job type you can choose from.
All player's will be paid on the start of the new FG day, which takes place once every two weeks. It will be marked on the calendar as an event.
1. OPD:
The Osiris Police Department. You will serve as the basic law enforcement officer to help keep down crime in the city. If a crime is taking place you will be required to stop what you are doing to lend your assistance with whatever is currently happening in the city. You will also be a detective that must solve cases and murders, or be a defensive unit that must protect or run surveillance on a certain area. This is the most action packed job in Osiris, so the risk factor of dying is very high. You will need basic combat abilities to assist you in subduing your target, and a sharp eye for solving tough cases.
Because you have a police radio you will be informed before everyone else about a crime that is about to take place.
Basic pay: $150 a day.
Bonus pay: +$150 per crime stopped or event completed (There is a lot of crime).
The OPD loans out patrol cars for free.
2. News Reporter:
You work for the Osiris Daily Chronicle as a reporter or writer. It is your job to find all the exciting stuff going on in the city, and tell the rest of the world about it. Try to beat the police to a crime scene to get the scoop, or film a bank robbery live while still inside the bank!
The better the story, the more you get paid.
This job isn't very life threatening unless you are going out of your way to get a really good story. For players who like to relax, socialize, and learn about other people's business, then this is the job for you. You won't need any combat skills for this job, but you will need keen ears, quiet feet, and a silver tongue to get the story you are looking for.
Basic pay: $100 a day
Bonus pay: +$100 for writing about story events or crimes that take place.
3. Operative:
This is one of those gray area jobs that are hard to explain. You can be one of three things. With this job type all players will start off working for Hydra corp. If you wish to work for Carson you may choose so by talking to him later on in the game.
Type One: Technician. You will run surveillance using state of the art satellites or cameras to keep an eye on something from afar, or just stand outside and be a look out...
As a Technician you can join Carson, Hydra, or the OPD.
For players playing "Look out" the admin will inform you first about a enemy that is coming in the area, or send a map of the layout of the building so that you can guide the others to where they need to go. This will be done by PM to give this job more importance.
You will also be a hacker or technician expert that gets in to get a computer related job done, and then get back out to allow the other team to do all the killing and fighting. If you have ever watched the TV show 24, then Chloe would be the perfect example because she would be Jack Bauer's operative. For this job you will need to distract people so that they don't notice you and your teammates, sneaky feet to get to places unseen, and computer skills that will help you get the job done.
Type Two: Enforcer. You will work for Hydra corp. to help stop the crimes going on in the city. Hydra will give you a mission, and you will carry it out. If you wish you may also drop in to assist the police, but they may not like you randomly dropping in. If you choose to embrace your more evil side you will be the one making the crime and will be fighting the people trying to stop you. You will work for Carson Wylde at club Exxel, he will have you rob certain banks for money, hijack supply trucks for rare weapons and equipment, or roughhouse a certain somebody that is in your way. For this job you will mostly need combat skills to help you complete your tasks. A few stealth or computer skills may be required as well. This would be the perfect job for superheroes/villains. The risk factor for this job type is very high.
Type Three: Agent. A spy or art thief would be a good example for this type. For some rare cases, you may need a smooth tongue to help you get what you need. You mostly deal in stealing, finding, or overhearing things without being detected. Sometimes talking to someone is the easiest way to gain information, so persuasion or acting would be key skills to have. If you are more of the silent sneaky type that likes to get your hands on rare items, then sleight of hand and stealth would be good skills to assist you.
Hydra Basic pay: $200 a day for working for them.
Hydra Bonus pay: +$200 per crime stopped or event completed.
Hydra also loans high level equipment to their agents for free.
Carson jobs: May pay out up to $1000 a day. However, the risk factor is a lot higher so you may come out empty handed if things go south.
*Other: Cooks, Lawyers, dancers, teachers, ETC.
Basic pay: $200 (No bonuses or perks)
NOTE: Just because the skills are recommended, it doesn't mean that you have to use them. Pick skills that best match your character. You must work for one of the organizations listed above due to the fact that this is a story driven RP. The NPCs you work for will give you missions to help keep the role play fun.
