((Yeah I'm conscious it's only one roll per action until receiving a reply. I just wanted to speed things up, as said in the log.))
"Hmph." A cocky scoff came from Aileana as she gave the guard one last look. No 3D painting was going to get the best of her again! She kept silent through Glory's explanation of the next test. Aileana had never been one to fight-- neither her power nor her skills in life were too oriented for that, unless it was in a videogame.
A slow gait led her into the training room. Excitement, but above all nerves when she came to the realization that virtually all the students in the room were looking at her.I KNEW I should have changed before coming... She snapped her fingers in annoyance.
The oddly clad man that nodded at her seemed somewhat cheerful, though not with the same picaresque joy the students shared. "Good-- Good morning." With some fumbling came her greeting. What could possibly be the challenge now?
Glory stayed in the door and waved you through, she pointed at the man with the silver goggles. "Alright, now for combat training. Go talk to Powerflux the combat instructor to get started. He goes by a new name now but just ignore it. I have a few important things to take care of, so this is where we will part. Don't worry, we'll see each other again soon. As a warning though, I must tell you that Powerflux can be a bit... odd... But, he is a nice guy. He'll help you learn anything else from here on out. Alright, good luck." Glory stayed in the doorway to watch Aileana walk in and greet Flux, and then turned to walk back out the way they came.
Powerflux walked over to Aileana, sticking his hand out for her to shake. "Welcome, welcome. You must be the newest student to the academy. Oh how I love new students. Shhh, be careful though, the phantoms are listening." He leaned forward and began to whisper the next part. "They are everywhere..." He snapped his fingers and stopped to look around the room for a bit, then smoothed out his fake mustache.
He took a step back and went back to using his normal voice. "My name is the 'Mysterious mustache'. I am here to teach you how to fight. Combat is just like using skills and abilities, so you should catch on pretty easy. You may have noticed that there are certain combat abilities in the list, you will use them in the same way as the last test you just came from. There is one difference though between using life skills and fighting in combat, and that is that you will have two turns: A attack turn to deal damage to your target, and a defensive turn to try and dodge the attack aimed at you. Remember when you subdued that guard? That would be your attack turn, but instead of just being subdued like he was, he will have a chance to defend himself and roll to block your attack. Use the double parentheses for what you roll within your post, just like when you bought the items or when you looked for the hidden guard. Refer to the "Battle Rules" post to learn how to set up your combat post. If you don't understand something in the post, ask about it now. After you think you understand, we will have a small sparing match." The Mysterious mustache tossed her some sparring gear to ensure her safety, and then went back to smoothing his fake mustache out. "Alright, we will do melee combat only. No weapons, and no powers. Ready? Let's go then." ((You get the first attack))

Good luck? Luck me? I'll have him at my feet yet! It shouldn't be too different from Fight Time's combat interface... As if brand new from the package, Aileana stretched her legs, checking the reach of some very low kicks and awkward punches. Just. Like. Fight Time. Her favorite wrestling game of all times, she was set on imitating their own burly fighting style, even if she had no weight to go with it-- flying about a ring was impossible without one, not that she could.
Powerflux interrupted her lucubrations with a speech about phantoms and complimented it with a clearly fake mustache. What a nice guy he seemed to be! Now, The book of People says to avoid physical confrontations at all costs, BUT if it comes down to one, the goal should be to submit the foe in as few moves as possible. Preferably using cheap shots and other underhanded tactics... Huh.
Reviewing the steps in her head a couple times, she locked down her eyes on the man in front of her and instinctively thought of a move...
HP: 150 --------------------------
With firm decision, she rid the distance between them, positioning herself with a left foot forward, the right reeling back... Then forward to attempt a kick in the groin!
The kick to the groin was a common move among new students. They always went for the cheap shots. He blocked it by putting his left leg up, blocking her right leg kick with the outside of his own leg. He followed it up by kicking her leg out and away from him.
((Attacking turn. Rolled a: 6. That was embarrassing...)) While his left leg was still out he spent around and jumped into the air, following the motion to deliver a kick of his own, often referred as a 'rolling sobat', using the same leg. Sadly, he had eaten one too many jelly donuts earlier in the morning and they were weighing him down, on top of that he hadn't changed stances correctly to attempt such a move. The attack would have been a lot more impressive if he had actually gotten off of the ground. The kick was meant to hit her in the chest, but it was more like a sloppy thigh attack. He landed a bit awkwardly as he fell from his failed half-jump attack. He had to use his hands to help keep from falling over, and then proceeded to pull his slightly sagging pants back up. "Is that the best you can do? Come on, in a real fight you need more then cheap shots." He tried to pretend his sloppy attack never happened...

((Is above 50 a dodge or simply above the foe's damage roll?))
The scrambling of the two's legs was followed by Aileana retreating two steps quickly, surprised at her failed attack. That was pretty fail.
HP: 150 ----------------------------
Mysterious mustache's botched kick grazed the front of her right leg, doing little more than rubbing against it. She found it ironic when he reprimanded her use of cheap shots, whilst not being able to deliver a proper one himself. ((Dodge roll: 1d100, 77... Success!))
With that, she decided to take advantage of his prone position, once more closing in the distance and delivering a ruthless stomp to his still stretched leg, aiming to strike the ball of her foot against his fibula: a common move by 'heel' wrestlers in Fight Time. Sadly, her technique came up rather short, not to mention the wrestlers' own was fake, even in the videogame. ((Attack roll: 1d100, 6))

((Whoever rolls the higher number will be the one who successfully attacks or defends. So as long as your roll is higher than your enemy you will hit them or block their attack. Battles don't use the 50 or higher rule. However, Subduing your enemy still uses the basic 50 or higher ability rules.
When a character is hurt: Players will subtract the total amount from both rolls to equal the current damage for that post. Example: Attack roll 70, -5 from enemy dodge roll = 65 damage.))
Hp: 150 ((Dodge roll: 50. Success!)) --------------------------------------------------- Before Aileana could stomp on the front part of his shin he quickly swept his leg back and away. He spun around to get a bit of distance between the two of them, not more than a few feet apart. He put his hands up near his head, his left arm was slightly extended, and his hand was resting open. And his right hand was closer to his face, balled into a fist. His left leg rose up off the floor slightly, resting on the ball of his foot. He kept his right leg planted firmly on the ground. It was a common muay thai stance.
((Attack roll: 48))
Now that he was in his stance, he charged at her. He did a quick lunging kick. Turning to the side and now planting his left foot on the ground to bring his right leg up to strike her shin. It was a basic attack to hurt her, but it wouldn't break her leg or do much long term damage.

The low stance Mysterious Mustache had adopted, did not take Aileana by surprise, namely because she DIDN'T know about stances and the like. She simply stood firmly, giving only her right flank to the opponent and bending both legs a lot. If only there were a ring post... He'd so be down for a three-count by now.
With a kick setting out to meet her shin, all she could do was jump instinctively. Through a fluke of nature, her improvised dodge was successful, skipping the leg cleanly, and lading behind enough for him not to reach with another kick. ((Dodge roll: 1d100, 65... Success!))
Sadly these flashes of brilliance weren't eternal, as her next move reflected her inexperience perfectly. Turning to fully face her new trainer, Aileana ran the few steps between them, jumping mid-sprint to perform a shoddy dropkick, seeking his face. ((Attack roll: 1d100, 20))
The Mysterious mustache stood still for a bit, waiting for her to get closer. When she jumped and went to kick him in the face he simply folded both hands behind his back and stretched his long legs out to the side to step out of the way. He let off a over dramatized "Waoooooop..." as he slid out of the way. Obviously she wouldn't be able to land on her feet from such an attack... Or maybe some how she could. Who knows?
He began to chuckle and put a hand up. "That is enough for now. I think you get the idea of combat. I'm going to need you to test your powers out on me in a second just to see if you fully understand. Before you do though, let me tell you about items."
"Remember that Stimpack Glory had you buy from earlier? Take it out of your bag and use it, it will recover a small amount of your HP. 30 HP to be exact. The stim packs heal more HP then bandages in the short term. But if you had the first aid skill it would add a bonus to how much life you can heal. Be careful using Stimpacks, too many in one day will make you sick.
"When using items during combat, the item used will count as your attack turn. Don't worry though, I won't hit you while you are healing, but other enemies will. The good news is that you will still have a turn to defend yourself so there is a chance you may not take any more damage on that turn. Outside of combat you can use items as much as you want to recharge HP and Etc, without having to wait for other posts or turns. Remember that you have one those Stimpacks in your bag, the key to winning any battle is learning when to use them when you need it most to help turn the tide of battle.
"The same rule applies to using skills and abilties as well. Know when to use them, and you will always come out number one. Good combat skills come with practice, so if you are planning to be a hero, practicing here with me at the dojo would be a good idea. Alright, now we are going to learn about super powers. Super powers are just like abilities, except you can use it for attack and for defense. Glory and I have very simular powers." He held his hand out and generated a ball of lightning. "I can use this to shoot people with, or use it to create a lightning field to stop or disrupt attacks aimed at me. My powers also allow me to move with lightning fast speed, which gives me a huge advantage when dodging attacks. I would like you to think of all the possible ways that you can use your own powers, so that you know exactly how to use them to save your own life, or someone else's. Knowing your own strengths and weaknesses is another key tactic for victory. Every Sensitive is born with a natural weakness. We don't yet know why, so there is no cure for it. The best way to cure it is to avoid it in the first place, you know?
"I have a special device here to scan you to see what you are weak agaisnt. I'll run a test now. Stand still. Beep... Booop.... Bleeeeep. Boopity flooooop." The Mysterious mustache took out a small silver device and waved it around Aileana in a very fast and random manor, while at the same time making high pitched 'machine' noises.
"Errr... Well... that's odd... Hmm..." Powerflux seemed dumb struck when he scanned her for a weakness. "Umm, well anyways... You don't have to post what your weakness is in your abilties and powers list, people will only use it agaisnt you. Now that you know what your super weakness is, try to avoid it at all costs. Your weakness will be a secret to everyone else, and it will be their job to find it out on their own. The key is to not tell anyone what your weakness is so that they will never have an advantage over you in combat. But if they do learn what it is, you better watch out because they will most likely use it at every chance they get. That goes the same for you, learn your opponents weakness and exploit it to your advantage.
"Alright, time to finish your combat training. This time use your powers on me. Be creative and try using them in unique ways for your attacks and defense. Powers take energy, so every time you use it the stat counter for your next attack will drop down. I am at my max power level of (20/20), so if I were to attack you with a lightning bolt my attack would look like this:"
((Powerflux shoots the wall with a lightning bolt: rolled a 29+1=30. 19/20 left on power counter.)) "And my next attack would look like this:" ((Powerflux shoots the wall with another lightning bolt: rolled a 40+1=41. 18/20 left on power counter.))
"Yo, see how it dropped down by one point from 20 to 19, and then again from 19 to 18? This will keep happening for every time I use my powers until it reaches 0. Once the stat counter hits 0 (0/20) all my attacks will be as if I were a normal human and I wouldn't be able to use my powers any more. I would then have to go lay down and take a rest to reset my stats back to (20/20). This stat counter will be typed in just below your HP points so that it is easy to find in battle.
"For now you are just starting out, your stats are already at 0, this doesn't mean though that you will not get a bonus for using powers. Even though your stat counter says 0, you will still get a +1 bonus just for using your powers. Keep in mind this only applies to beginners, it is a one time deal. If you get tired you will no longer get the +1 bonus. I hope that isn't too confusing.
Since you are just starting out, this means that you can use your powers once in a single day, and then you will have to rest to regain power. It's hard for new people starting out to get strong, but once you get there things get easier. Alright, let's test out your powers. If you have any questions, you can ask me now. I'll shoot a ball of lightning at you, and you will have to defend yourself with your power." Powerflux stepped back to give her some room, tossing the device to one of the students to hold. He got back in his fighting stance to resume the training. "Remember what your powers are. Use it to your advantage. Ready?" He charged up a bolt of lightning and shot it off at her. ((Final attack:80+1=81))
((For test reasons all of your super power attacks will be maxed out at +20 (20/20) to help you learn how to use your powers. Each time you attack it will drop by 1 point. Keep that in mind while doing the math for all of your attacks. After the Tutorial ends you will go back to having (0/20) stats.))

((So I gain a +1 on the maximum counter every time I use them too? That is, if I start out on 0/20, and I use my powers once, after I rest will I have 1/20? Also, do powered defenses deplete SP as well?))
"I feel fine though..." Aileana was reluctant to take a Stimpack, mainly because they seemed quite suspicious. What was that about them being harmful? Regardless, she heeded the Mustache's advice. With a disgusted face, a Stimpack had been consumed in a very large gulp. ((Used 1 VBS Stimpack))
"Know when to use them. Right." Caught by surprise, she gave him frantic gaze as the device hovered over her, making odd noises here and there. "Attack with my powers, s-su-sure..." Now how on Earth would she manage THAT? Aileana grew a little nervous, but went for a more zen approach this time around. She'd first defend herself, then see what she could do.
Before she could manage a coherent response, Aileana had managed to distance herself from the Mysterious Mustache, staring at his eyes bewildered. Her hands sashayed left, then right, slowly... With a glimpse of the lightning flying, both hands shot forward, a dull chime could be heard as it dissipated completely, with her having nulled the ability. ((Dodge roll: 1d100, 95 + 1 + 96... Success!))
While she couldn't deal any real damage with her ability, perhaps it'd disable him enough for a good cheap shot. From that same distance, she merely slid her right foot back, firing her right hand forward. A subtle series of transparent particles began to appear in the environment: if they could attach themselves to Powerflux, his ability to form and manipulate lightning would be nulled completely for a while. ((Attack roll: 1d100, 32 + 1 = 33))
((Both of those are good questions. The first one you got right, so I don't have to answer that. As for the second question, yes defense depletes it as well, and life skills. For example you had super hearing and you wanted to listen in on a conversation outside of combat, it would deplete 1 SP from the counter. It would be a good idea to add that to your SIG so that you don't forget what your last power usage was. And lastly, if you have more then a +1 bonus, lets say (5/20), you could choose to use a +3 bonus, bringing you down to (2/20). The objective is to get your counter higher so that you can add bigger bonuses and deal out more damage. How much energy you choose to use is up to you.))
HP: 118 ------------------------------------------------- The attack struck the Mysterious Mustache, causing him to stumble back. He didn't bother blocking it. "Ouch..." He chuckled and nodded his head. "Alright, that's enough fighting for today. Good job. I think That about covers all of your training. You know how to use your powers and you understood everything perfectly. Let me know if you have any questions about anything. If not, you can go out to the city and start your first mission. Go talk with Mister Rycroft in his office, he'll give you a job. If you ever need to practice or learn something new, feel free to come back and pay me a visit." Just then his phone rang. He took out his cellphone and listened in to the other end. "That was your test results. The Operatives have watched you from day one. Your final test score is: 85 out of 100. That is enough to pass as a "Advance student". If you wish you may now roll for a second power. Peace out, yo." He kissed his index and middle fingers and blew them at her as a farewell. ((All Super power stats reset back to (1/20). You may keep the bonus from successfully using your powers.))
**This now ends your tutorial.** ((The only thing left for you to do is to head over to the Apartments and rent one. You will be given a new task from your boss after that. The choice to accept will be up to you...))
