Bernard sat straight up with a start, sweat beading upon his silky short-haired brow. He looked nervously around trying to discern the nature of his alarm. He let out a deep sigh of relief finding nothing out of the ordinary in the dingy rental dwelling. His heartbeat began to return to a slow steady pulse. The images had been stronger as of late and increasingly more disturbing. His mind blacked out many of the events of the past year. It was as if had stumbled upon a breadcrumb finally allowing him to wander with the past unlocking answers to the puzzling void one tiny piece at a time.
The dreams in recent days had been eerily similar. Bernard had found himself walking the barren halls of what appeared to be a hospital or lab. The strong odor of disinfectant was prevalent disrupting one of his more remarkable senses of observation. The deeper he traveled within the structure the plainer his surroundings became. He had the overwhelming sensation his every move was being watched.
The florescent light bounced off the barren walls and the glossy white tile matching floors as he followed the unknown path. Bernard scanned the unmarked path his blue-grey eyes discretely searching hoping to uncover the source of his discomfort. His pointed rose ears that were held back and folded now stood semi-perked at attention. His sense of smell may have been impacted by the pungent odor but his keen sense of hearing was able to detect even the slightest disturbance.
(Observation Roll 63 +- success!!)
"There," Bernard proclaimed silently regarding his observation skills, "found you!"
When the Sensitive drew his attention to the out of place wall he caught a brief glimpse of the watchman. The guard that was trying to hide was camouflaged, apparently using some of Hi-tech gizmo to bend the light to blend in with the rest of the widened hall. Before Bernard could react, he/she bolted disappearing from sight. The only thing that remained was the faint footfalls of the escape leading him forward.
The retreating sounds had lead him to a large room littered with are a few plain black leather chairs, dark wood or glass coffee tables, and a few clusters of plants to decorate the room. Unlike the rest of the facility he had observed thus far, this room was occupied. A few, what he assumed to be students were scattered throughout the room, talking to one another or with their teachers. He couldn’t help but feel the prying eyes shift upon him as he entered the room.
Bernard reached up pulling the grey hoodie even further forward in hopes to to conceal his deformity. Not too far away, standing by the wall, a solitary figure stood arms crossed and her face showing no emotion or facial expressions partially hidden behind a blood red mask. " Must be the woman in charge," the dog-man deduced. She obviously noticed his entry having turned her attention towards the Sensitive, yet she made no attempt to engage. This only aroused his curiosity more. Right now, she held all the cards. "Well except for this one" he mused at his only clue.
“Bernard Noseworthy.” He proclaimed bluntly.
“But you already knew that didn’t you?” Holding up the plastic ID card in a gloved hand that mysteriously arrived by courier to open Pandora's Box.
“If I might add, just who are you and why have you lured me here?”
