Ducking behind one of the clusters of plants located in every corner of the room was a guard that was trying to hide from Jared. Because of his dark clothing he had blended in perfectly with the shadows the leaves were creating. Now that Jared had actually looked for him, and had now spotted him, he realized that the guard stood out clearly and was quite obvious. The guard heard Jared declare his success of spotting him, and decided to step out from his hiding place. "Well played, sir. Now catch me if you can!" He turned on his heels and began to make a run for it.

((Still unsure about using SP for Senstitive abilities, do I gain it or loose it when I use it?))
"Well played, sir. Now catch me if you can!"
He's fast. Jared mused, calmly putting one foot after another before giving chase to the man in black, the guard probably had alot of training before this test.
Looking around the room, he noticed the many obstacles and furniture that littered the place before the intruder would reach the door. Jared deliberately ran past the coffee tables, even though it slowed him down a little, he deftly picking up a cup saucer on the way.
Glancing to the side, Glory seemed to be watching this in amusement -even though in normal situations, he thought she would have stopped this nonsense long ago.
((Subdue skill, rolled a 53! Success!!)
Nonetheless, it was a test. Jared focused on the escapee, timing his footsteps and waiting for the right moment. With a sudden flick of his wrist, the saucer soared through the air and slipped itself neatly in between the floor and the guard's boots.
Jared quickly caught up to the man and anticipating the guard's fall, he swiftly slammed his forearm against the guard's chest while he was defenseless to knock the breath out of him

((That was a creative way to subdue the guard. About the SP, it does both. I'll try not to use too many words so that it doesn't confuse you. But if I have to, I'll go in detail in the Heroes lounge. Think of SP this way: Every time you successfully use a power you get a level up, adding one point to its total. You can only use that power as many times as your total levels. So if you are level five, you get to use your powers up to five times (+1), or just use it all at once for a +5 bonus. After using all the energy you can't use your powers any more unless you sleep. Even if you use it all though, you will still keep all of your previous level ups.)
The guard slipped on the saucer, but didn't fall. He just slid across the floor, foot still on the slippery saucer and both arms flailing to keep his balance. He yelled "Whoooooa..." And then his chest hit Jared's forearm and he was clotheslined from the blow, falling to the ground in a painful heap. "Alright, I give up. you got me!" the guard yelled while gasping for air. He didn't get back up, he just stayed on the ground.
Glory walked over while clapping her hands and chuckling. "Well done. You found and subdued Kenny with very little difficulty. I must admit, that was Very fun to watch. If you used this skill against a real opponet you would first have to get their Health points down to about 40 HP before subduing them. A healthy opponent would just get back up and keep trying to fight. But Kenny here has had a long day... Since you now understand how to use your skills, let's move on to your final training exercise: Combat. You will be learning how to use your powers as well. Come on," Glory waved a hand to the door for Jared to follow her. "Kenny, you can go back to hiding for the next student. We'll see you later." Kenny the guard nodded his head and crawled back on his hands and knees behind the plants, while Glory walked out of the room and into the next one.
((For the next one we're going to go straight into power combat so that you can practice using SP for a few rounds.))
(( My bad for missing out on posting this weekend, things are getting a little crazy here with my service provider. ))
"Alright, I give up. you got me!"
Jared extended his hand to the guard, but the guardsman just remained on the floor -breath barely catching up with him. Jared guessed he couldn't be blamed, if he were to be chased by people with inhuman abilities every hour of everyday, he'd probably do the same and never want to get up again either.
"So Kenny here was giving me the win from the start."
He watched as Glory left for the next room, after mentioning how amusing it all was and ordering Kenny the Guardsman to hide once more. It did seem a little cold.
"Hang in there."
Jared said, patting the man's back in a form of appreciation he could show -encouragement. Then stood up and followed Glory to the next room, what was going to happen next?
((Not a problem. Read in the heroes lounge what Safi and I have been talking about. The SP thing is going under some construction.))
4. The Arithmetic's of combat.
They walked into a training dojo. Blue mats line the floor to help absorb the impact of when you hit, and a few more line the walls in case you are thrown into them. Other then that the room is completely empty of items in the room. Advanced students that have already passed all of their training tests are up agaisnt the wall, a few are smiling or snickering, but all eyes were now on you. A man with a blue hoody, silver goggles, and a fake mustache nods his head to you in greeting.
Glory stayed in the door and waved Jared through, she pointed at the man with the silver goggles. "Alright, now for combat training. Go talk to Powerflux, the combat instructor to get started. He goes by a new name now but just ignore it. I have a few important things to take care of, so this is where we will part. Don't worry, we'll see each other again soon. As a warning though, I must tell you that Powerflux can be a bit... odd... But, he is a nice guy. He'll help you learn anything else from here on out. Alright, good luck." Glory stayed in the doorway to watch Jared walk in and greet Flux, and then turned to walk back out the way they came in.
Powerflux walked over to Jared, sticking his hand out for him to shake. "You look like my brother!" He started laughing. "Gosh darn it, I thought you were sucked into the phantom zone too!" He stopped laughing and then stared at the man for awhile, smoothing the ends out on his fake mustache with two fingers. Disappointment was now in his voice. "Oh wait... you are not him. Meh, you must be another student here for training. Alright, lets get started then... Hmmm...."
He took a step back and put his hands on his hips. "My name is the Mysterious mustache. I am here to teach you how to fight. Combat is just like using skills and abilities, so you should catch on pretty easy. You may have noticed that there are certain combat abilities in the skills list, you will use them in the same way as the last test you just came from. There is one difference though with using life skills and fighting in combat, and that is that you will have two turns: A attack turn to deal damage to your target, and a defensive turn to try and dodge the attack aimed at you. Remember when you subdued that guard? That would be your attack turn, but instead of just being subdued like he was, he will have a chance to defend himself and roll to block your attack. Use the double parentheses for what you roll within your post, just like when you bought the items or when you looked for the hidden guard. Refer to the "Battle Rules" post to learn how to set up your combat post. If you don't understand something in the post, ask about it now. After you think you understand, we will have a small sparing match." The Mysterious mustache tossed Jared some sparring gear to ensure his safety, and then went back to smoothing his fake mustache out. "Alright, don't hold back. No weapons, but you can use your powers to their fullest. Ready? Let's go then."
((You get the first attack. Your SP counter will be at max level (20/20) for this training exercise.))

Jared gestured goodbye to Glory as he walked past the doorway to meet the once famed Hero, PowerFlux. It felt satisfying to know that she was capable of emotion afterall, given the stories he has heard. Yet it only made him wonder more about the "Who" behind the mask.
Jared stepped into the training room, its vast emptiness made him feel a little uneasy, it felt so ...-sterile. Only to be greeted by someone in an obviously fake moustache, bright blue tinted googles and a peppered grey hair. He resembled Powerflux in some ways but this was not how Jared imagined he would look ...or speak.
"What makes you so sure I'm not your brother?"
Jared asked in jest, though quickly realizing this was what Glory meant and wise men never toyed with the feelings of the insane.
"You're probably right. I'm not. I don't even know what the Phantom Zone is." Yet. There were more answers to be found here than he had thought.
----------
Jared dropped his coat on the floor into a heap, picking up the sparring gear which included a vest and padded gloves which protected the hands, it seemed basic enough and nothing too outstanding.
But when he put it on, Jared felt revitalised, not bodily, but his powers. They felt ...Awakened. Jared's powers were more tied to the mind than the body, he could feel the room buzz with the flow of movement -every physical situation that could arise, maybe even clock the speed of Powerflux's breath coming out of his nostrils.
Jared leaned back, wanting not to exhaust his senses too soon, he looked at the gloves he wore. They certainly weren't just gloves.
"Alright, don't hold back. No weapons, but you can use your powers to their fullest. Ready? Let's go then."
No Weapons? This might be very disadvantageous to him.
"Let's." But Jared was not one to quit.
----
HP: 150/150 SP: 19/20 ((Using one point for opening attack))
Jared stood on his toes, his shoes weren't made for such posture but they held nonetheless. It was a stance that made him lighter on his feet, as he would demostrate in a moment.
Curling his fingers a little, it seemed like a pretty simple move when he swung to aim the side of his hand to PowerFlux's neck but in an instant, Jared activated his power.
(( Rolled a: 46 on dice log. +1 from SP use. Activated Power derived Combat Ability "Double Shot", for an additional +5. Total roll: 52 ))
Time seemed to slow for the Sensitive, as he was one with his every move -able to foretell exactly how much force he was going to apply. Lifting his right leg, he prepared for the moment that it would hit, using the inertia he threw into that swing to pull his body forward while going to PowerFlux's gut with his knee.
(( I'm not sure if this is correct, since my Power grants him the use of any Combat Ability whenever he uses at least 1 sp. So I added the +1 bonus as well as the +5 bonus from using 'Double Shot' melee version. Also, I am not good at opening battle posts. ))
((You did that perfectly. Because of his combat mastery you will get the bonus from your power, plus the bonus from the attack. All limitations from those abilities still apply though. And your opening attack was great, I can work with this.)) HP: 150. SP. 19/20. ((Dodge roll: 63+1=64. Using a point of SP.)) -----------------------------------------
Flux didn't even need to use his powers, but he did it anyways just for show. The man was fast, but James was Lightning fast. He jerked his head back in a blink of an eye, Jared's hand passing by his head and making his hair flutter from the force. As soon as he saw Jared's knee lift for his gut he spun to the side and out of the way, the attack missing by a mere second. But to James, seconds was forever.
((Counter attack: 93... wow))
while still in mid spin from dodging Jared's attack, Powerflux's back was now facing towards Jared. Powerflux prepared for his attack by bending his right knee, keeping it tucked up close to his left leg. He spent half a second to judge the distance of the attack, then struck his leg straight out behind him in a back kick with an extreme amount of force. He aimed it high towards Jared's chest to most likely knock the wind out of him and cause him to stumble back, or fall down from the force.

HP: 52/150 (Can you say ...? wtfowch!) SP: 10/20 ((-93 Hp from attack. Forfeiting Dodge roll and taking additional -5 hp of damage due to use of Combat Skill "Counterattack". For a total of 98 damage. Using up 9 points of SP, +1 for first counterattack and +8 for second counterattack. Holy fizzniks, playing my character is complicated!)) ---------------------
The blow connected, an alarmingly loud thud resonated through the room. The sound of teeth clenching and bones creaking echoed afterwards but Jared Harding stood in his place, The Mysterious Moustache's sole planted firmly in his chest directly above his heart. Jared couldn't breath for a few moments while his lungs slowly decompressed, a small trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his fanged mouth but Jared did not budge.
Instead, he held on to his adversary's leg in a deathly tight grip after the full on attack. He felt an unusual pain at his fingertips, like something breaking through his skin but it was nothing compared to that blow to the chest he suffered. Drawing from that agony, his grip tightened even more.
(( Used Power derived skill "Counterattack" for two Retaliation turns, no defense turn. Dice roll 11+5 (+1 from SP Use) total 17, followed by 83 (+8 from SP use) total 92.))
Turning his body, he let one hand go of the leg and brought his elbow down against Jame's knee with force aimed at maiming and dislocation. Hydra Corps had regeneration vats, didn't they? Even though Jared would never willingly step into one.
Little did he know that he had sustained further injuries at the tips of his hands, leaving bloody streaks on James' leg as sharp nails unintentionally dug into flesh. His appearance changed as well, his ears lengthened and grew into points as a his sideburns sprouted into a mane. His shoes had large white spikes stained with little red spots protruding where his toes would be, tearing the surface of the floor.

((Wow. Your character is complicated... Did I do my damage right? I hate math... LOL!))
HP: 150-73=77 HP. SP. 18/20. Using a point of SP. ((Dodge roll: 34+1=35. 108-35=73 damage!)) -----------------------------------------------
The Mysterious mustache attempted to brace for impact. From fighting in muay thai competitions for so long, his body was used to the full contact sports. But not to the point of withstanding the pain from his own leg from breaking. He tried using his powers to move his leg away, but the man's deathlike grip was too strong.
His leg went snap, and he fell down in agonized pain. "Argh!" He reached into his ulitilty belt and pulled out a VBS Syringe and jammed the serum into his arm to recover some of his life. It wouldn't put his leg back in place, but it would numb the pain.
He put a hand up. "Alright, we will stop now. I think you got the hang of it. You just took damage and your life is now low. Remember that Stimpack Glory had you buy from earlier? Take it out of your bag and use it. It is a small needle, just jam it into your arm and press it in. it will recover a small amount of your HP (+30 HP). Using items during combat will count as your attack turn. Don't worry though, I won't hit you while you are healing, but other enemies will. The good news is that you will still have a turn to defend yourself so there is a chance you may not take any more damage on that turn. Outside of combat you can use items as much as you want to recharge HP and Etc, without having to wait for other posts or turns. After you recover some of your HP you will be free to go. Remember that you still have one Stimpack left in your bag, the key to winning any battle is learning when to use it when you need it most to help turn the tide of battle.
"The same rule applies to using skills and abilties as well. Good combat skills come with practice, so if you are planning to be a hero, practicing here with me at the dojo would be a good idea. I would like you to think of all the possible ways that you can use your own powers, so that you know exactly how to use them to save your own life, or someone else's. Knowing your own strengths and weakness is another key tactic for victory. Every Sensitive is born with a natural weakness. We don't yet know why, so there is no cure for it. The best way to cure it is to avoid it in the first place, you know? I have a special device here to scan you to see what you are weak agaisnt. I'll run a test now. Stand still. Beep... Booop.... Bleeeeep. Boopity flooooop." The Mysterious mustache took out a small silver device and waved it around Jared in a very fast and random manor, while at the same time making high pitched 'machine' noises. He was making the noises, not the device. The device was completely silent.
The Mysterious Mustache nodded his head. "Alright, Make sure you don't tell anyone what your weakness is, they will only use it against you. That's enough fighting for today. Good job. I think That about covers all of your training. Let me know if you have any questions about anything. If not, you can go out to the city and start your first mission. Go talk with Mister Rycroft in his office, he'll give you a job." He put a hand to his ear to listen to his Bluetooth. "You scored a 90 on your test results. That makes you a advanced student. With a score like that you have moved up to the 'Elite' class."
"Alright, you are free to go. Jeannette in the main hall will take you anywhere in the building, so go talk to her. Peace out, yo." He kissed his index and middle fingers and blew them at Jared as a farewell. Then began to crawl over to the corner so that the other students could help him get to the medical labs...
((With counter attack you don't take ANY damage from the attack because you counter it. So next time you use the skill you will only lose 5 HP. Your post still made sense though, so you do not have to change it. Training is now over. All Super power stats reset back to (1/1) out of (1/20). You may keep all items gained. This now ends your Tutorial.))

Jared backed away from the man, blood dripping from his fingers. Realizing the full extent of what he had done, the surge of anger subsided and claws sheathed back into digits in a torturously slow manner. He suddenly felt like he walked through a typhoon and somehow made it out alive, it was still hard for him to breathe, reeling from PowerFlux's or as he is really named; James' attack -he felt every ache and bruise sustained.
But most hurt of all was his Ego, he looked in horror at his fingers for a second then over at James who was on the floor gripping his leg. Yet ...the man was still as friendly as ever to him, it made him feel bad, really, really bad.
"Right." A mummur was all Jared could muster to speak to James, as he yanked out the syringe from his pocket and jammed the needle into his left shoulder. Sending a potent throng of stimulants straight into his bloodstream, easing the pain a little.
((Vita-Boost Serum Stimpak used, X1. +30HP))
It was while he was enjoying this tiny bit of comfort that James started waving a small, what looked like a pedometer, around him. Jared gave him weird looks as he started making beeping sounds around, Glory did warn about how odd the veteran hero was afterall.
At the end of the awkward moment, he showed Jared something on the screen of the machination.
"Wow... that makes sense." It did.
When students came in to help Powerflux out of the room, Jared watched as he limped away then looked at the floor and his torn shoes.
"Thnks." He muttered, barely audiblely. "Is there some good to this place?" Afterall?
-------------------------------------
Walking out of the training facility after everyone else has left, Jared felt himself relieved that he no longer needed to keep up the pretence. Though bewildred by the actions of Glory and PowerFlux, who Jared promptly labeled them 'exceptions', he remained steadfast in reminding himself of the more important things. Holding on to his dented ribs, he walked right past and HydraCorp Medical Labs and straight to this Jeanette he was supposed to find.
((Absolutely great!! If only I had more time to post faster, this tutorial has truly been helpful. For most part I was lost about what to do, the "Getting Started" thread is such a useful idea that I think all roleplays should have something like this.))
