Beck raised an eyebrow. "Well, I suppose that is a fair question. Naida Baris has a brother, you might have met the young lad. His name is Nathan and he is the one that pays for this apartment. He recently hacked our system and stole valuable information using a Data uplink. Naida told us about the incident and told us that the data uplink was stolen from him.
She suggested that instead of us going to retrieve the device, we should instead just follow it and see who had it and where it went. So naturally, when you brought it back to your apartment I just waited until you left and had a look around. I informed the rest of my team about who you were and where you went, and had them follow you and your friends."
He grinned. "Basic detective work. Not like I'll get a fancy gold medal for it. As for who I report to..." He shrugged his shoulders in a childish manor.
"I work for a woman in Hydra corp. Her name currently escapes me. Maybe I'll remember later. Now, I have answered your questions, will you answer mine? I just need to know the relationship between you and-"
His head was cut off. He saw the motion of the blade coming but he just didn't have time to react and do anything about it. There was no blood because the energized weapon burned the wound shut, so it was a silent and very clean kill. The body toppled forward and hit the floor.

The lifeless body toppled forward and hit the floor. “Sorry Mr. Beck.” The red headed killer mocked looking down at the decapitated body slumped upon the floor. “You are just a sacrificed pawn in a much larger game and I’m beginning to embrace the added attention I’m drawing with each move I make.”. Despite the delecate timetable, Bernard began rifling through the pockets of the headless corpse taking anything he found and stuffing it into his own pockets.
With the admission that Mr. Beck had the Sensitive and his friends followed Bernard should have taken the opportunity to ask about the whereabouts of the missing reporter. Dead men typically don’t tell any tales but even in death the resourceful truth-seeker believed the lifeless operative would be more forthcoming than if alive given the right circumstances. And why carry extra baggage when all he needed to do was to get that synthesized brain into the hands of a skilled hacker. The blonde man’s decapitated head would do just fine in this instance.
After his hasty search of the corpse,Bernard bagged the severed head and made his way to the window to make his escape. It was several blocks to his desired destination and ff it was one thing that he took away from this encounter was that no matter how careful he had been to cover his tracks it seemed that Hydra was able to pick up his trail. With that in mind the Sensitive would throw caution to the wind and fly directly to the Club with his prize. Exxel was the one place that Hydra seemed unable or at least reluctant to breach. He would find sanctuary at least for the moment while under their roof.
Soon the Sensitive landed in the back parking lot of the club Bernard and proceeded directly to the rear entrance thumping hard upon the metal door that lead to the kitchen. "HEY, I'm here to see Wavelink. She around?"He bellowed.

Naida heard the television going from the hallway so she assumed that Nathan was home. She tried the doorknob and it turned freely, letting her know that it had been left unlocked for her.
She walked through the door and saw that everything was still in order the way she left it. The TV was going and she noticed that there was a newspaper on the coffee table, but there was one thing wrong with the apartment that shouldn't have been there.
There was a woman, a Hydra agent to be exact, standing in her living room holding a clipboard. She had short black hair and was dressed in a black leather bodysuit, just like the elite suits that Hydra sells to their top ranking agents.
"Who are you? What are you doing in my apartment?" Naida asked the woman.
"You can call me Ira, I am investigating the murder of one of our operatives. If you could just-"
Naida's eyes went wide as she looked around the apartment, but there was no sign of a struggle. "Where is Nathan? Nate... Oh my god..."
She ran past the woman and shoved her to the side. Near the doorway to Nathan's bedroom was a body laying face down on the floor; the head was missing from it's shoulders. The body was about Nathan's height and build, and it was dressed in a suit li9ke he would wear. She hadn't see what Nathan was wearing that morning but he almost always dressed in a suit and tie. She felt like she had to throw up.
She let off a sobbing gasp and ran down the hallway to her brothers bedroom. There was another Hydra guard in the room taking notes of the scene and when he saw Naida coming closer he tried to stop her from touching the body, but she shoved his hand away and dropped to her knees to look at the body. "No, no , no, no..." She rolled the body over on to its back just as her eyes welled up with tears.
The neck was burned shut and there was no blood in the room. What had happened here?
Again, from what she could tell there was no sign of a struggle. "Nathan..." She reached down and took his hand in her own... they were Caucasian. They weren't Nathan's hands... She stopped and just stared at the body. She blinked her eyes a few times then stood to her feet and looked at the woman who was now standing in the doorway watching her.
"T-this... isn't my brother... Who the hell is this?"
((Not sure which Bedroom Bernard was last in. When I went back to read your old post I thought he was last in Nathan's room, but after reading it again I think he was actually in Naida's bedroom...))
The strange woman with the black hair, Ira was her name, looked down at the body on the floor. Her face was completely void of any type of emotion as she spoke.
"His name is Agent Beck, he was working on a case here and was murdered."
Naida blinked her eyes. "But why is he in my apartment? More specifically, why is he in the bedroom?"
Ira looked up at Naida. "He was here to talk to you. We feared that you might not be safe and sent a team to investigate. After you asked us to track the data uplink we found that it lead us back to your apartment building. We were afraid the man that owned it would turn up here, so we decided to keep an eye on you. As you can see, Mr. Beck was killed in the process. If he hadn't of come here to see if you were alright, it would have been you on the floor."
Naida opened her mouth to speak but found no words. She looked confused. After a few seconds she found the question that she was looking for. "W-what about my brother? Is he okay?"
"Your brother is fine. We already took him down to HQ for questioning. He wasn't harmed in any way by the attacker."
What a relief. Nathan was okay! Naida nodded her head and placed a hand on her chest. Her heart was beating so fast it felt like it was going to explode from her chest. "Okay... I see... Can you tell me exactly what happened here?"
Ira very subtly cocked her head to the side and gave Naida a cold lifeless smile. "I can do better than that. Come with us back to base and I can show you."
Naida agreed. "Sure, that's fine. Let me just pay the landlord his rent and I'll be on my way." She thought it was only fair to pay it seeing how she used the apartment and had stored all her stuff here.
Naida was really starting to feel the affects of fatigue kicking in, but she couldn't rest just yet. She would go with them back to base and sleep after she learned what was going on.
Sleeping here at the apartment wasn't a good idea now that she knew that it wasn't safe. Now she understood why so many heroes hid their true identities and kept a secret hide out...

The door was left unlocked, and as soon as Bennett walked in he saw the other Hydra agent standing by the kitchen counter. The guard stood at attention and stepped to the side to allow them to pass.
"Did you tamper with the crime scene?" Bennett asked. The guard shook his head. "No, sir. We only took a look around. We tried not to touch anything... Although miss Baris did touch the body and turn him over because she thought he was her brother. We tried to stop her but..."
Bennett shot Naida a look that could have cut her in half. He let off a sigh and rubbed at his temple. "Okay... the body is in the back bedroom?"
The agent nodded his head. Bennett walked to the back room and saw the headless body laying on the floor right away. He noticed a few things from his current position, the first was that the wound was cauterized. There was no blood or mess around the apartment. No signs of a struggle, no thrown objects. He stopped in the hall that led to the bedroom and turned around to look at the living room area; it was the same way, no signs of a struggle.
"What happened here...?" He asked himself in thought. Beck didn't even try to fight? Was he assassinated? No... The other agent said he was talking to someone, so he knew that someone was there and had seen the person...
What went wrong? Why was Beck suddenly killed without warning. Bennett walked into the bedroom and looked at the bed, there was a small wrinkled crease on the edge as if someone had sat there. Based on the body's position that was Beck's butt that had disturbed the edge of the bed.
So if Beck was on the bed, where was the killer? He looked around the room but saw nothing that could give anything away. He knelt down and looked under the bed; there was only dust and shadows. Bennett frowned deeply and stood back to his feet.
He rubbed at his chin in thought and turned around to face the living room to call out to the other Hydra agents.
Naida wanted to leave so that she could make her meeting with Garrett, but she knew that if she asked to leave they would simply think her actions were suspicious seeing how there was a headless dead body in her apartment.
She stood in the hallway that lead to the bedrooms and leaned her shoulder up against the wall; watching as the detective looked around for clues.
Ira walked up next to her and watched as well. Again, they didn't speak to each other, they just watched. Finally Bennett looked up and asked a question.
"Where is the victim's head?"
Naida was about to speak up and answer, but she actually didn't know. She looked to Ira to fill in the details.
The other agent to the initiative and spoke up. "We don't know. Based on what we received at the base, his head might have been stuffed into a bag and taken with the killer. We're not exactly sure why the killer did this. One guess was that the killer collects souvenirs from his kills. I won't know the details until after we return to base and talk with the tech team. I recommend that you come with us to get further details."
Naida let off a sigh and rubbed at her forehead. This was going to take forever.

Jack Bennett raised an eyebrow as the woman outlined the situation. They were dealing with a real freak if he collected heads as a trophy.
Bennett stood to his feet and took another look around the room. What else was out of place here?
He looked down at the bed, then down at Beck. The man was handcuffed. "I'm pretty sure Beck wasn't a Sensitive, correct?" Bennett asked.
If the man was handcuffed then he might have been caught off guard and knocked unconscious, dragged to the back bedroom, and tossed on the bed to be interrogated, but not tortured.
The only reason Bennett didn't think that the man was tortured was because there was no sign of blood or a struggle, everything was very calm, and based on what Ira had said the entire conflict only lasted for a couple of minutes.
So what happened? Beck came in, got hit on the head, dragged to the back, handcuffed, had a short conversation, and was then beheaded?
Bennett needed more information and Ira seemed to think that the tech team had it for them.
"Ugh... I just came from Hydra Corp. I feel like I'm going in circles. Alright let's pack it up and go. I'm going to need help from the police squad on this one, so do me a favor and call it in.
"I need the CSI team in here to dust for prints and look for DNA samples to see if there is anything we can use to catch this guy. In the meantime, Miss Baris I will need to ask you some questions about your lifestyle and if there is anyone you know that may want you dead or do you harm, that information will help me narrow the list down. Other than that, there isn't much I can do here now without a proper crime team with me. Let's head on over to Hydra."
Bennett walked out of the bedroom and headed for the front door.

As soon as Bennett told them to call the police squad both Ira and the other Hydra agent placed a finger to their ears and began whispering into their earpieces, apparently talking to the techs on the other end to relay the request.
Naida shrugged her shoulders. "I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch, but I'm already late for that. I' have no problems going with you guys to Hydra and answering any questions you have. Just let me call my friend and let him know I'm going to be late."
The group turned around and left the apartment unit and walked to the elevator, the only one that stayed behind was the masked Hydra guard. Naida pulled out her cellphone and called Club Exxel, but Garrett wasn't the one to pick up, it was another woman working at the club and she took Naida's message and said that she would relay it to Garrett for her.
After that the group walked out of the main lobby and Ira spoke as they reached the parking lot. "We have a black SUV just down here. I'll drive us if you don't mind."
Naida had no objections. They walked to the black SUV and Naida opened the door and climbed into the back, she figured that the Detective wanted to sit up front.

Jack followed behind the two women and walked with them to the parking lot. When Ira suggested they all share a car he agreed. "That's fine. I'll pick the squad car up later."
He got into the passenger side and buckled in. He looked to Ira as she started the SUV and pulled out of the lot and headed East to Hydra HQ.
"So tell me, do you always have other agents follow your people around, or is miss Baris here a special case? Why was agent Beck in her apartment in the first place? I need to get the story straight to piece clues together. Going over it helps."
He had already heard the story earlier twice, once from Jeannette and once from Ira and Baris, but if they kept going over it he could spot out inconsistencies to see if they were being straight with him; and if they weren't, he needed to know why.
