Ahaha, I ramble all the time! So no worries there. I have done some small verbal role plays with my brother and sisters and our characters, but we didn't use a board or any rules. It was just us talking out our characters and their actions. We started doing that back when we were little (like 6-10 years old). Maybe I can talk my friends or family into buying a table top board game and playing, but the chance of success is very unlikely.
This story with Hydra and the super heroes was originally thought up about four years ago, but I couldn't get anyone else to participate and join in. So after awhile I just decided to make an online RP. Having said that, if I couldn't get them to join this RP, I doubt I could get them to join a table top one.
Nice to know that this system is pretty simple compared to offical systems though. My goal was to try to keep things simple, so I suppose I was successful.
Er... I guess I'll throw in a random new topic. So how was everyone's weekend? ;D

@safi: Haha, so you noticed his bad cliches? Yeah, he is pretty much a walking cliche. I'm not going to go through the list of all the people I based him off of, but I'm going to be using a mixture of their quotes throughout the RP. He was made to mimic them. There is a reason why his boss is Danny Glover and why the OPD has bad 80s music.
Also, have you given any thought to coming up with a superhero image for Aileana, or what direction she will take as a character? I know at the moment she is following a set path, but as soon as the event ends everyone will be on their own. Once that happens, the story for your character will pretty much be based around how you build them. The events are spaced apart by months, so having a basic direction in where to take your character would be a good idea to bridge the gap between events. If you do have an idea, I'm sure everyone would be interested in hearing what it is.
@all: By any chance has any one else ever played the computer video game Baldur's gate 2? And if so, by any chance do you still own the game? I found out how to get the multiplayer working so you can play it online. The game is old, but to me it is still one of the best strategy/adventure games ever made. It would be fun to play it again with a group of people online. ;D

Sorry for my absence. I am still around, just a little bummed over my upcoming bout in the Grassroots. I'm up against an individual who just seems to suck the life out of writing for me. I'm not one to just throw in the towel so I must persevere and fight the good fight.
What I wouldn't give to have him sucked into a black hole right now.

I'll post with Dennis in a few hours. I've been doing a lot of research (unrelated to this site and writing) and it has taken up a lot of time.
@bernard: Yeah, stuff like that happens some times. I wish you luck in taking down your opponent though!
An idea did come to mind though. It appears that you are fighting on floating letters for your fighting arena. Perhaps you could use your psychics abilities to your advantage? Such as raising the letter your character is standing on so that he is above her so that she cannot get to him, or dropping the letter she is standing on so that it falls. You could also always revert to Jedi force tactics by throwing the letters at her, which would eventually lead to only a few letters left on the battle field.
If you still have your magic carpet, your own character would be safe from falling by riding on top of it, while your opponent would eventually be doomed to fall from the lack of ground to stand on. Just throwing some ideas around...
Anyways, I hope you come up with something so that you come out on top. I'm cheering you on! ;D
khayyam's telekinesis has a self imposed limit to "handle" soft fibers and tissues. While in theory he could force himself to "touch" other substances they would have to be relatively small. The letter's themselves are 50' tall not floating. He may break the ban in this match. We will have to see.
Flying was PROHIBITED as was levitation from my understanding.
My opponent has conveniently created a grappling hook that sticks instantly to any surface. He has also reworked his EMP grenades to affect magic, created flesh eating nanites, and an anti magic toxin. All part of my boggle. I will allow him to self destruct.
Who came up with these rules? It sounds like you're going to have to use some mighty fine tricks to get out of this one. I'm curious to see what you will come up with. If you win the match we'll all bake cookies, and then throw them at the not-so invincible robot that you had to fight.
Oh, but now I am curious. How are fights determined? Who matches who to fight, and how do they do the pairing? Is it random, and if so, how do they randomize it?
And where is Jared? I'm going to assume that he has either abandoned the RP, or his internet really did die. Seeing how he hasn't sent a Email or PM saying that his Net died, I will assume that he just dropped out of the RP...
I'll wait for one more week before prodding him and asking him some questions.

As far as I am aware we each received a random number between 1 and 16 at the beginning. This was our starting position on the single elimination ladder and brackets (much like the NCAA College Basketball Tournament ). Winners move on to round two facing the opponent determined by their starting bracket. All fight until only one remains the tallest shoot of grass.
the person running the tournament (Twilight in this instance) sets the stage for each battle trying to make the setting as fair as possible to both participants.Try as one might, certain details can get overlooked at times placing a participant at a distinct disadvantage but we can't always fight under optimum circumstances.
As for tricks, I have a few up my sleeve that may throw her off balance. But first I must stroke to her ego.
Enjoy!
EDIT: I finally took the opportunity to take a look a Kynn's profile. I couldn't help but wonder how he would freak out when Khayyam manipulated the hair from his head.

I'm guessing Jared's Internet really is dead, given we haven't had a chance to chat over MSN. By the way, I can't be as active as I'd like to be, neither here nor on RPGW; I had my first day of university this Tuesday, even though classes started a week ago. Needless to say, first semester of medicine is tough, much more so with the added workload. I'll try and squeeze in most of my posts in the weekend.
@aileana: No problem, thanks for the heads up. And you're studying medicine? That's awesome. I hope you got a good teacher for your class. Don't you hate it when you get a weirdo for a teacher?
As for Jared, maybe he'll get things shorted out and let us know what happen. I'll leave his account as is for now and hopefully he can one day come back to join us and tell us what happen.
Looks like things are going to be a bit slow for awhile here on FG...
@dave: Ah, I see. I remember asking a similar question before but my memory is bad and I couldn't remember if you answered it.
And Kynn would freak out to the 1000th degree if Khayyam grabbed his hair with psychic powers! LOL. Kynn is a bit hard to understand, and for most people his personality will not be understood unless they really talk to him. I was trying not to have a long wall of text for his bio, but the more I used him the more he grew. I guess it can't be helped when you have characters for longs periods of time. So I just tried to include anything that would be useful for battles, all other minor details I include in my posts as I go along. Oh, that is a fun topic to start!
@all: Which character have you had the longest? And how many years have you had them?
I think if I entered the Grass roots tournament I would most likely use Kynn as my contestant because I know how to use him the most out of all of my characters. Fantasy and magic is my specialty for when it comes to writing.
I now wonder how well Kynn and Khayyam would do in a tag team match up? For some reason I'm imagining it to be a mess. ;D
Perhaps I should try one of those next....
EDIT: I think my opponent put himself at a huge disadvantage... While Khayyam's is just utterly ridicules. LOL.

Most of my creations are relatively new, especially since online role plays seems to have such a short life span. I have a few supers that have been around for a few years but since trying my hand at T1 combat I have created a few for realistic melee. The first was an American Indian since I had actually used many of the weapons in his arsenal.
While Khayyam was 'put together' for the Grassroots I had been playing with many of his 'pieces for some time. I've always enjoyed the personality aspect of a performer be it a bard/story teller from the glorious days of D&D or roaming street performers displaying their crafts. Such backgrounds make it easy to fit in to most scenarios and a little grand standing from time to time doesn't hurt either. Another piece of the puzzle was his equipment. Much of this aspect was inspired by Marvel's Arabian Knight, Abdul Quamar. I was drawn to the magical sash idea that could serve as a weapon (whip/lariat,slung shot) as well as a climbing rope (seemingly climbing into the sky) or bonds to capture and restrain foes. I see it kind of like a pet snake constricting foes. Sticking with the snake charmer motif he would play a small pigot and have a few musical cantrips as well.
One of the newer versions of Marvel's had the arabian knight fashion a set of combat fatigues from the carpet. I like the idea but I didn't want to be restrained in which form I used. This is where the Psycokinesis came into the picture allowing him to manipulate and reweave fabrics telekinetically. The final aspect provided some darkness to the character which is currently simple cantrips representational of gypsy magic although it was meant to include vodoo magics using his psionic gifts to create magical creations (dolls) to be used as pin cushions to induce pain or even puppet another's actions. I was asked to abandon this line of thinking for the tournament.
The magical scimitar just didn't fit in with the way I envisioned the character going for something less tradition in the shears (which may contain similar magics to the scimitar) and the bo stick which was inspired as a means of carrying goods in hanging baskets through the market place.
Well there you have some of the thought behind Khayyam
Tag team matches are a whole new kettle of fish to master. And don't underestimate Liquidus. Despite your apparent advantages, I think you have your hands full with that one.
