After the fall of Hydra Corp., these smaller bioengineering companies took over to aid the public. They are always looking to expand and make the world a better place with one of their many experimental items. 

-Medical services-

1. Regeneration:
Since Hydra corp has bought out the hospitals this is now the fastest and only way to heal in the city. For minor injuries Hydra will treat you with basic medical care, but for more critical wounds Hydra will place you in one of their "Vita-tanks", which are special tanks filled with a chemical substance that is proven to heal you no matter how bad the injuries. If you are prone to ending up in one of these tanks daily, maybe it is about time you bought some of Hydra corp's life insurance...

2. "Life insurance", AKA - Cloning:
You can have a clone of yourself made. If you die, the clone will be activated by a special switch that will be placed in your heart. That switch will send a signal to Hydra corp, who will then activate the new you. You must come in at least once a day to update the memories that are stored. If you fail to update the memories then the clone will remember whatever you last stored in its memory bank. The Clone will be exactly like you in every way.
Price: $5,000 per clone.

3. VBS Energy serum:
A Red Vitality booster serum, AKA a stimpack, is an advanced drug stimulate that will help increase your Health points by a small amount (+30 HP). Most soldiers now carry at least two of these when out in combat in case they get shot, but never more than two or else they will risk overdosing. All you have to do is press the syringe into your arm and inject the serum.
If you do take more than two of these in a single day you will overdose, causing you to go into the fatigue status. The stimpack will also heal all status effects such as: Poison, petrification, and other ailments.

4. VBS power serum:
A Yellow Vitality booster serum that is made to increase your muscles and endurance. You will have the strength of 5 men and will move with advanced swiftness. When Hydra corp introduced this to the U.S. Government it gave their soldiers unrivaled strength.
All you have to do is press the syringe into your arm and inject the serum. For the next five combat turns you will not suffer from any fatigue effects due to the adrenalin rush.
However, if you take more than two (total of three) of these in a single day you will overdose and will go into the fatigue status. For some reason the VBS serum has no affect on Sensitives and does not give them any combat bonuses, but taking three will overdose them.
(+10 to Strength, evasion, and Defense. Lasts 5 turns.)

5. SPB serum:

A Blue Energy booster serum that is made to increase your mental and physical energy. This is used to help sensitives regain their energy for their super powers. All you have to do is press the syringe into your arm and inject the serum. If a human takes the serum it will have no effect (but taking three will still overdose them).

There were two distinct popping sounds as Caryle snapped his fingers to wake Keiko up from her sleep.

"Wakey wakey sleeping beauty," Carlyle said in a dry and serious tone. He waited a moment for the young officer to orient herself and take in her surroundings before he started talking.

"You were out all night, slept through most of the day too." He said as walked around the room for a bit. He licked his thumb and adjusted his tie, then tucked both his hands into his pockets before he began talking again.

"So you're currently in the hospital and taken off duty until further notice. In case you haven't noticed, you're pretty banged up. Doctor says you were lucky and all you need is rest and time to heal, but you won't be back on the field for awhile. Bruised ribs, damaged shoulder, you took a pretty nasty gash to the head, not sure about your cybernetics, we'll need a mechanic to take a look at that, not a doctor." He said sarcastically.

"You're lucky you aren't paralyzed from the waist down after taking that hit!" he said as he signaled to her legs.

"I mean seriously, WHAT...THE...HELL... WAS THAT Keiko!? I gave you a direct order to stand down, and now you screwed the entire job up by rushing in. We would have intercepted and blocked off the streets and caught them by the book, but no, you decided to go and play hero and take them alone. You spooked them, and they got away."

He sniffed and stuck his hands back in his pockets, then a small smirk crept across his face.

"Sorry, sweetheart. Looks like I have no choice. You'll be stuck on desk duty filing reports until further notice."

The two distinct popping sounds aroused her senses.
Even without opening her eyes Keiko was able to distinguish the pragmatic menace that hovered over her as the ominous waft of that cheap cologne encompassed her like a dark cloud.

"Wakey wakey sleeping beauty," Carlyle said in a dry and serious tone.

She fought hard not to succumb to choking stench and acknowledge her consciousness to his presence. But to no avail.

~cough~ she sputtered opening her eyes to the unappealing visage across the room.

"You were out all night, slept through most of the day too." He said as walked around the room for a bit. He licked his thumb and adjusted his tie, then tucked both his hands into his pockets before he began talking again.

Keiiko began to tune out at the introduction of the phrase off duty until further notice. Just one more thing Carlyle would undoubtedly dangle over her head until she succumbed to his perverse will.

"I mean seriously, WHAT...THE...HELL... WAS THAT Keiko!? I gave you a direct order to stand down, and now you screwed the entire job up by rushing in. We would have intercepted and blocked off the streets and caught them by the book, but no, you decided to go and play hero and take them alone. You spooked them, and they got away."

”All due respect sir. I followed the order to stand down. It wasn’t until the shots fired was issued did I ignore your explicit directions and responded in kind. I identified myself and ordered the assailants to pull over. It’s not my fault they responded putting two slugs into my chest!” she stated excitedly gently rubbing the area of impact suffered during the ordeal.

”WE TOOK AN OATH SIR.”She became more animate as she spoke ”TO SERVE AND PROTECT! You would prefer I …….we just stand down? Is this what law enforcement has been reduced to? It’s no wonder the criminals run free.” She shook her head in disbelief.

Carlyle sniffed and stuck his hands back in his pockets, then a small smirk crept across his face.

"Sorry, sweetheart. Looks like I have no choice. You'll be stuck on desk duty filing reports until further notice."

Her hands were tied. As long as Carlyle held her under his thumb she would never be free. I was readily apparent that her only recourse would be to work outside the system. Unless she found some sort of dirt as leverage, Keiko was sure it was there somewhere, she would be a desk jockey forever.

”Well sir.”She said bearing a forced smile. ”I’m sure they will have me patched up and ready for filling those reports in no time. Shouldn’t be too taxing with your hand off approach to stopping crimes in progress. Doubt there are too many criminals out there that are just going to have a change of heart and turn themselves in.”She retorted sarcastically.”If you don’t mind I think I’ll rest. Need my sleep if I’m going to have a speedy recovery.”

Merle had no objections to the plan and gave a thumbs up. "Sounds like a plan. I'm ready whenever you are." She climbed into the drivers seat to drop Keiko off at the apartment, then they would head on over to the hospital...

Meanwhile...
The police force had escorted the injured Archer to Vaiacane hospital for treatment, following Carlyle's strict orders on how to file the patient, which room he should be placed in, and how much protection he should have to insure that he didn't escape. To make sure that the orders were followed correctly, he even stayed on scene and oversaw the entire operation.

The laid-back easy going detective was certainly more hands-on with this case given the recent series of events. Trying to keep the media out of this one was going to be a hard sell.

"I'm stepping out for a bit. I need to make a call. I'm also getting a coffee and a cigarette. I'll be back soon. If the patient wakes up, come to me first thing, no delays!" Carlyle informed as he turned away to step outside. The police standing guard nodded their understanding and went back to guarding the halls, with two guards posted right outside the Archer's door.

”Show time.” Keiko announced to her partners as Carlyle turned away and strolled down the hall in the opposite direction to step outside.”You know the drill.”

The two female officers made their way toward the pair of guards posted outside the Archer’s door. Keiko opened in conversation. ”Pretty exciting huh.” She commented.” Looks like we finally caught that break we were looking for. Must have put up some sort of fight to land his ass in here. Not surprising really given the fact he’s probably got a life sentence ahead of him to look forward to.”

Keiko pressed toward the door peering through the small glass partition into the patient’s room.

”Is he awake?” She asked. "Tucker and I would like to ask him a few questions about this Blue Bird fella we’ve been chasing. They crossed paths on Gabriel’s Crossing a few weeks back. Hoping to find out if he could shed any light on what their beef may be about. Maybe catch a break of our own.”

Merle didn't miss a beat, she followed close behind Keiko and flashed her badge as they approached so that the two guards wouldn't be alarmed. She saw them visibly tense up for a second, then relax and lower their weapons as they saw two friendly officers approach.

'We won't be long. Promise, we just want to ask a few questions and finally put this case to rest." Merle added.

The two guards looked at each other. "Right. I don't think he's awake yet. We heard about that incident, and what happened last night was a real tragedy too. We heard rumors he attacked that family after the thieves left. Some type of poison. Whatever happened to this guy, he got what he deserved. We'd love to help, but sadly, Carlyle gave specific instructions not to let anyone inside. You'll need something to verify that you're allowed to be here." The guard finished.

"Yeah, we can't just let you in. We'll lose our jobs if the boss found out. Best not to make things complicated." The second guard chimed in.

Much of the guard’s statement was expected. The rumor of the family’s poisoning at the hands of the Archer was disturbing. It was hard to fathom. Still it didn’t fit the Archer’s modus operandi. Why not just skewer them as the others? For the sake of the boy and his family she hoped it to be just as presented; nothing more than rumor.

"Yeah, we can't just let you in. We'll lose our jobs if the boss found out. Best not to make things complicated." The second guard chimed in.

”A bit strict for suicide watch don’t you think? This added protocol have anything to do with the Archer ending up under the care of the colleagues of those he slaughtered a couple months back. Not the most fortuitous of environments if you ask me. Is that why they have the Namtouch doctor’s on the floor? I thought I saw my sister on my way in.” She recollected.

That was Aya’s cue to commence Operation Magpie. It wasn’t long before the slight Asian female doctor rolled down the hall in her wheelchair to join the others.

”Didn’t expect to see you here sis.” Keiko commented as Atsuko rolled up.

”I could say the same about you Kei. My presence is one of necessity. Given the history, Viacanne didn’t to risk the chance of a lawsuit if the patient didn’t make it through surgery. My team and I were brought over for damage control.” Atsu replied showing the guard’s her credentials. ”Maybe we can catch up when I finish up here if you’re not busy. Surgery went well. Just following up on the patient. He’s still pretty doped up.”

” I came here hoping to question your patient on a related case only to find he’s under some sort of quarantine. So until I get the green light I’m free."

”Well it’s not that he’s contagious. He was shot. Anyways Think one of you could get the door? She commented tapping the clipboard as she awaited passage into the room. ”Some things are a little awkward to navigate by myself. I’m still getting use to the chair.”

”Let me help sis.” Keiko insisted grabbing the hand grips to navigate the chair through the recovery room door that Merle graciously held open. It wasn’t that Aya couldn’t have managed on her own. Although she was still adjusting to the implants the chair bound surgeon had ample use of her newly acquired cybernetic legs. The chair and the inquiry was but a sympathetic distraction in a well-designed scheme to get Keiko into the room and a one on one with the Archer when easy access had been denied.

The guards were baffled by the wheelchair bound doctor that approached them. One stammered and lifted a finger in objection. "Carlyle gave... wait..." he started as Keiko pushed her sister into the room.

The other stepped aside and looked confused. "Alright, just make it quick. We don't want to lose our jobs over this. Make sure he's okay, then out you go."

The two guards closed the door and resumed guarding the room to keep up appearances.

The archer -- or as he was known by his citizen name, Damien Vega, lay half awake in the bed, hooked up to various machines to monitor his heart rate and health. Merle stayed near the door and kept a close ear to listen for conversation and movement.

"Make it fast, I'll keep a lookout for trouble. So far so good." she reassured.

"Make it fast, I'll keep a lookout for trouble. So far so good." Came Merle’s hushed reassurance.
”Once inside the room Atsuko went about her business checking the various machines that monitored the patient’s various vital signs.

”Good to see you awake Mr. Vega. Surgery to repair the injuries you sustained went quite well. You should recover nicely. Forgive the restrains but they fear you’re a flight risk. The police are here to ask a few questions if you are up to it.”

Keiko kept the brilliant overhead lighting behind her illuminating her silhouette in an indistinguishable glow.
”I’m officer Hyogo” She began. ”I’d like to start by asking you about the briefcase you took during the massacre at your hands here at Viacanne several weeks back.”

Figuing the fugitive would remained tight lipped she continued after a brief pause.

”I understand your reluctance to implicate yourself in this crime. Given the fact that the Viacanne executives weren’t very forthcoming about what was stolen. I can only assume they would rather it just disappear than to have it recovered. It’s a shame you are the only one that could shed some light on the contents. I mean here you are, handed over to their care facility. It would be a shame if one of the blood transfusions you are receiving was incorrectly labeled. There are countless things that could go wrong in here.”

Atsuko went about her business checking the various machines that monitored the patient’s various vital signs. His blood-work chart however, showed signs of the once so-called "TOZ" vaccine in his DNA, a very large dosage of it, as if it had become part of his DNA. However, the serum had been altered and mixed with another unknown compound.

He was once an infected Consumer, but the machines were currently showing that he had become cured from previous treatment, making the infection dormant and turning him back into a regular human. There were signs on his body that someone had done some experimental treatments on him as well. His heartbeat was also weak and irregular, not from his recent injuries, but as if he was very sick and fighting an unknown terminal illness.

Damien slowly opened his eyes and stared at the doctor as she worked, he tested his arms and realized they were restrained, but made no efforts to free himself. He slowly turned his head and surveyed the room, coming to a stop on the black silhouette of Keiko as she spoke to him and asked him her questions. He didn't answer right away, he remained silent for awhile and simply stared at her after she finished speaking. He proceeded to slowly turned his head to stare straight up at the ceiling, then closed his eyes and exhaled. It was only then did he start to speak.

"Ah, threats to injure or kill me. I have no problem with moving on, just as long as those who are guilty face justice for what they've done. Your threats have no affect on me. I no longer need what was stolen, I got what I came for. The briefcase that you speak of contained a list of contacts, my allies already have their names. Even though I'm here, even if you kill me, nothing changes. We already won. You can't save. them all.."
