Well, if you are looking for someone to fill the villain role it wouldn't be the first time I jumped at the opportunity to fill those shoes. Not that Bernard is the villainous type but I am sure that something can be arranged in short order if needed.
An the person pulling Bernard's strings and the all madness he encompasses will be played by someone to be known simply as Dave.
Glad to be here Ash!
Hope to meet the others soon. Don't worry I don't bite (often)! Really!!

@dave: So I noticed in your character's bio that his name is Daniel, but a lot of times you call him Bernard. When I rename your account to match your character's name, should I name it Bernard Noseworthy or Daniel Noseworthy?
And you would make Bernard as a villain character, or are you suggesting making a new one? Haha, I wonder how that would turn out if Bernard was the villain. I can't imagine it because I haven't yet seen his personality. Well, you will be doing the tutorial soon enough so then I'll get to know what he is like.
EDIT: And I just got your PM from Roleplay gateway. Hmm, I'm not sure to skip ahead or not. From past experience I learned that some people think they understand how a system works, and then when they go to use it they still have questions. If you have read over some of the tutorial from Aileana, then I will cut down on some of the words and just have you do the important parts (buying items, battles, ETC) to make sure you understand.
It may be a bit annoying to take the test, but the whole thing is a one time deal so you won't have to do it again, even if you make a new character. Once you pass the test once, you can bypass it for all future characters created. (Unless you some how fail the test and you want to retake it for your second power...)

@ash Yeah I quickly looked into Ailena's training session. Don't know how much actually sank in but it seemed pretty basic. I assume the tutorial is to get us use to how to accomplish tasks upon the site such as posting, edits, and the like. Doesn't hurt to ask and it won't kill me to follow the suit and learn some patience.
My character although listed as Daniel Bernard Noseworthy will be addressed by Bernard. The change is in regards to his mutation and his new circumstances. The golden memory of high school superstar Daniel is in the past and he is making a clear break.
As for Bernard as a villain...possible. Especially if we carried through with the concept of a permanent (or semi permanent) physical mutaion. Like you indicated, few would accept such disfigurement and he would become ostrasized. Can't see an easier way of pushing someone to the dark side. Its the quiet ones you really have to worry about. We will have to see.

@dave: Yes indeed we shall. What you name makes sense for turning to the dark side. I wonder if the other members would join him, or be more of a rival trying to stop his evil attempts. That is assuming he goes down that path. I'll edit the name of your account later in the day. EDIT: And yeah, once you are done with the tutorial there isn't much else you need to learn. The tutorial was pretty much designed to teach you how to edit your items and stats. If you have played Dungeons and dragons, or any other card/board RP game, then it shouldn't be hard to understand.
The only other thing that gave players a hard time was the day and night system. We (my sister and I) used it to keep all the players on the same page of what was going on in the city for when it came to weather and time. It won't be in the tutorial because there really isn't a way to teach players how to use it. You just get used to it when role playing...
@everyone else: Today I woke up not feeling very well, so I may not be posting as much as I normally do. I'll try to get some things done though. And to make things worse my Wi-fi is acting up. I just got it going a few hours ago, but there is no guarantee that it will work all day. I now have to make a few errands so I'll get to posting around 7:00 - 8:00 PM Eastern time. Just thought to give you all a heads up. I get the wi-fi working again, then the Wi-fi dies, and then it starts working again. So annoying. I'll try to make as many posts as I can now before it cuts back out. I hate when stuff starts acting up like that.

Just A note to indicate an addition of an image of Bernard added to his bio. There is also a colored rendition that of the proposed hero costume added to his storage locker although looking at it I plan to ditch the camera. For those interested her is a link to the Ugo's Hero Maker used in the generation. www.ugo.com/games/superhero-generator-heromachine-2-5
@ash I do have experience in a forced time RP environment so it shouldn't be a problem to adjust. I have used a one day real time as roughly two hours in game time. We did slow time for major events but basically everyone had two weeks posting time to complete their day.
@aileena's handler Congratulations on completing your training tutorial with flying colors. Good luck on your second power roll

Whoa, that hero creator thing is pretty cool. I think I'll fiddle around with it a bit and get to learn my away around it, and then add it as a link to the "Getting started" bio page, just under the other picture link. Thanks for posting it up. I think this is very useful for new players joining the site. Lets see if I can make Glory on there. ;D
And I now wonder if any of the others read this topic... I guess we'll see if Aileana's player posts in here and introduces himself.
I've been lurking creepily from page 1 and actually meant to post HeroMachine some time ago, BUT my memory's not all that. It's what I made Lewis from RPGW with, but being unsatisfied, I scrapped it.
Anyhow, a name? My name? Call me Safi, it's short for Safisan, which has pretty much become my name.
My turn to call out someone-- where's Flickery? I know him <3.

Okay wow, hero maker thing is really awesome. They made a newer version that is waaaay better than the older one. I'm pasting the new version up in the "Getting started" Bio page for everyone to use. Here is what I made:
And this is the Concept art that I drew a few months ago:
So yeah, it definitely allows you to make what ever you have in mind. I went on and updated all the "Glory's" located on the site and changed them to the new pics.
@safi: Ah, welcome to our Hangout. Nice of you to join us. I too have been wondering where Flickery was. He joined before all of you, yet hasn't yet posted...
*Puts hand to forehead and looks around* OH Flickery, oh flickery! Where are you?!? Come here, boy. Come join us! Come on... ;D
Alright. Time to updated the site, then I'll call it a rest. The announcement will be made in the morning. I'm tired.
EDIT:
@bernard: I got your message on RPGW. I wish I had read that before I typed my post out. I've got the tutorial preset, I just copy and past and edit it a bit to match each person, so the first post may not match up right with what you had in mind because it was already typed out in advance. But you know what, we can work around my first post and incorporate your idea. If he joined the academy a few years ago then that can all work out. Anything dealing with the past is fine, that is why I have that long back story thing written out so that your characters are aware of those events that happen. So feel free to use that stuff for your story. The only thing I would have had a problem with was the future, because all of that is story driven, and if you mess with it the role play will get messed up.

Like I indicated when I started the character process it seemed a little backwards to me. The more I look at Bernard as a canine the less he seems to fit his powers and what he is to become. I still want him to be a mutate in some form I just want to get away from the werewolf likeness. The image that is currently appealing to me is more like this:
Post by Nathan Baris on Jun 28, 2011 17:27:15 GMT -5
So he is still a half dog half human? Or something else? Looks very evil and scary. I guess I don't mind it, so yeah it's cool with me.
And yes, I know it seems backwards. I'm still contemplating if I want to change it or not. But I was kind of hoping the RP would be on the line of X-men. A group of mutants with powers and not all of them know how to control them. Some people just want to be normal, others use their powers for crime, and others to fight crime. If players knew what power they had before making their character, then they would always make a hero based around their powers, rather then the other way around of making a character that is trying to adjust to their unexpected powers.
I didn't want people to create a gimmick image around their powers. I wanted it to be like this: What if you woke up this morning and you could suddenly shoot lasers out your eyes. What would you do? Would you tell anyone? You have a life, a personality, and now you have a power. How do you use it?
I wanted people to use a character that they were already familiar with, but given a power that they weren't familiar with. So people would create characters with real personalities and backgrounds, that weren't gimmicks of their new super powers. That way they would have a natural adjustment to their powers of learning as they went along. I hope that makes sense...
Anyways, if others also have a problem with the way it is set up then I'll let people roll for powers before creating their bio.
