The ride back to the apartment was short since they only had to drive down the street. She paid the driver and went inside the building. As soon as she stepped through the door she heard the manager yell and jump to his feet.
"Miss Baris! You are late for paying your rent. I put the notice up several days ago and you never showed up to pay. You're always late!"
Naida stopped and stared in shock. She had completely forgotten about the rent. "I-I'm sorry, sir. I'll have it for you first thing in the morning."
"No! I need the money now miss Baris. I have my own bills to pay and I can't have all my tenants paying late. I put the notice on your door in advance to give you time and you did not pay the bill. I need the money now!" He emphasized the words by jabbing his index finger into the palm of his hand in a 'Pay me now' gesture.
"Bu-" She began.
"Miss Baris, if you do not have the money to pay, go and get your brother Nathan and ask him to cover the rent. I cannot put off any longer. It is not my fault that you failed to pay attention to the notice on the door."
She couldn't argue with that. "Okay alright, I'll go get Nathan and ask him to pay the rent. I promise I'll be back in a few hours to pay the bill, just let me change clothes and get a bit of rest..."
The manager didn't look satisfied, but he didn't argue with her any more. Naida got on the elevator and made her way up to her apartment unit.

The Hydra guard stayed behind in the apartment unit as Naida and Ira left and headed down to the main lobby. They took the elevator down in silence, neither one of them looked at the other or spoke a single word all the way down.
Naida was starting to feel the affects of fatigue but fought to keep her eyes open. These jobs of working long nights with little to no sleep was starting to takes its toll on her. How did the other big name heroes live a double life of stopping crime at night and still have energy to work in the day?
She rubbed at her eyes and shook her head a few times to shake off the sleep. The elevator door opened and they walked out into the main lobby of the apartment complex. Ira touched a finger to her ear and walked over to the main entrance for a bit of privacy; Naida assumed that Ira just got a message from the brass and was talking with them.
Instead of trying to listen in, Naida went over to the main desk to pay her rent.
"Sorry Mr. Kim, something came up and I have to leave again. Here is my ID card, just scan it to pay for the rent. I have the money in my account."
Kim eye'd her curiously but did as she asked. The computer told him that the money was being transfered and that everything checked out, so he gave her back her ID card. When Naida approuched the door, Ira held up her hand.
"There is a detective on the way. He wants to ask a few questions before you leave. Our boss Jeannette ordered us to stay here a little longer. Take a seat."
Naida had a feeling that the woman just gave an order and not a suggestion, so she did as she was told.
"Fine, just wake me up when he gets here. I've been up all day..."
She sat down on one of the long sofas and laid back. She closed her eyes to take a short nap while they waited for the officer to arrive. Hopefully he wouldn't have a lot of questions and they could get this over with quickly.

The rest of the way to the apartment was uneventful. He drove with his mind clouded, his thoughts filled with questions about what was going on. The entire world was falling apartment in his eyes. He stopped in the parking lot of the apartment complex and looked around. There were no other police cars, no Hydra trucks, and a handful of people were walking in and out the building as if everything was fine.
"Hydra didn't call this in to the police... The area should have been blocked off by now." He knew this wasn't going to be a normal case. He pulled up to the front door and put the car in park, and proceeded to head inside the building.
He spotted the black haired woman dressed in her leather bodysuit right away, she was a bit hard to miss. She was sitting down on one of the waiting chairs staring at the wall on the other side of the room; no emotion on her face. There was another woman napping on the sofa, and Bennett found it odd that they somewhat looked alike. Similar hair styles, both had black hair, both fairly young. He wondered if Rycroft had a thing for young women with short dark hair. Maybe it was all a coincidence, maybe the one napping wasn't a Hydra employee and was just a local resident.
He proceeded to walk over to the woman in the Hydra issued leather combat suit and flashed her his badge.
"Detective Bennett. I'm here to investigate the murder..."

The woman with the dark hair and the leather combat suit stood to her feet and introduced herself.
"I'm Ira, that is miss Baris." She gestured with her hand to show that Baris was the one sleeping on the sofa.
"The body was found in her apartment early this morning. We were hoping you could find something that we may have missed to help stop the killer."
She walked over to Naida and gently tapped her on the shoulder. Naida's eyes popped open and she stared at the woman.
"The detective is here. I'm sure he will have a few questions for you." Ira explained.
Naida nodded her head and sat up; rubbing her eyes as they readjusted to the light of the lobby. She hadn't eaten, she hadn't showered, and her hair was probably a mess by now. She hated not being able to keep up her appearance, but her job was causing for her to be in several places at once, which was conflicting with her regular sleeping schedule.
Speaking of schedules, she was supposed to meet Garrett for lunch this afternoon. This whole murder thing was going to set her back by several hours. She ran her hands over her face and took a deep breath.
"I have a feeling this is going to be a very long day..." She muttered to herself.

Jack put his badge away and tucked it into the inside of his coat pocket.
"I have a feeling this is going to be a very long day..."
Jack scoffed. "You and me both kid. Let's get this over with. I was briefly informed about the situation, but if you have any other information for me I would appreciate it if you could tell me. Anything at all will help. How about we start with the basics. How did you find the body in the Apartment building?"
Bennett eyed the girl that was napping and remembered where he had seen her before. It was about a day before the bridge heist, he had passed by her in this very hallway. She was one of his neighbors.
That kind of made this case personal. He couldn't let a crook get away with killing people right on his doorstep.

Naida looked to Ira to answer the question and the woman got the hint to take the lead. "We worked together. The man's name was Beck, he told us to wait in the hall while he went to check in on Baris. We did as we were told and stayed behind. When we heard him talking to someone else on his earpiece we started making our way to Baris' apartment unit, but he told us that everything was fine and that we should hold our position. We received mixed orders from Hydra, and we decided to continue up to assist Beck. By the time we got there Beck had been killed and the suspect had fled the scene."
Naida now chimed in to fill in the last bit of the story. "I was out with my friends during the event. I didn't come home until late in the night... Actually it was more like early this morning because the sun had started to rise. I walked in the apartment and found agent Ira and one of the other guards investigating the scene. They filled me in on the rest."

Jack nodded his head. He reached into his pocket to take out his notepad when suddenly realized he didn't have one. He would just remember the details and write them down later.
"If you don't mind I would like you to accompany me to the apartment unit where the body is located. I might have more questions after I see the body."
He walked over to the elevator and pressed the button to take them up to Naida's floor. He waited for the two women to get on with him, and he pressed the button to go up to the proper floor.
They didn't speak all the way up.
