((continued from Bernard Knapp's Apartment)) ((Updating Inventory))
Bernard woke after only a few short hours of sleep. His body still ached from the punishment of the explosion and the ringing sensation still persisted in his head. Throwing on his clothes the Sensitive grabbed his overcoat and toque and proceeded to the lobby of the Soaring Heights Apartments. He made a point of stopping by the front desk to put in a few words regarding his neighbor Lloyd.
“I’m not really one to complain,” Bernard began. ” But that muscle headed neighbor of mine has issues. First he gets all macho and in my face in the hallway after threatening to beat his petite girlfriend. Then he spends the better part of the evening trashing his apartment after she leaves him. Like I said, I don’t want to be any trouble and this can only escalate. If there is something else available I wouldn’t mind taking a look when I get back. Right now I’m off for some of those delicious smelling hot cakes at Casa de Luna. Can I get you anything while I’m there??”

Mister Kim was shocked to see Bernard walk in complaining about his neighbor. He stared wide eyed as he described the actions of his neighbor and told how he even trashed the room. "Oh my... I am sorry mister Bernard. I had no idea he was like that. I will send him a warning notice immediately. We just had the police come out here the day before to complain about the noise, but I didn't think it was so bad. I promise, all will be better. I handle everything." He gave a reassuring smile and clasped his hands together.
"Right now I’m off for some of those delicious smelling hot cakes at Casa de Luna. Can I get you anything while I’m there??”
He thought about it for a second, and then nodded his head. "Oh, yes yes. You so nice. I didn't think you would buy me breakfast. I take three egg omelet, buttermilk pancakes, a Bon bon, and two hot cakes. Oh, and don't forget the coffee!" He gave a gleeful smile and shook his hands together several times in thanks.

Bernard focused intently trying to decipher the words spilling out of Mr. Kim’s mouth at warp speed. It was hard enough to at times understand the thickly accented speech when one could hear it and although difficult the adaptive tenant was able to follow the conversation with his skilled lip reading. It was almost as if the added concentration made the comprehension that much easier without the distraction of strange inflection. It wasn’t foolproof but it would allow him to function relatively normal despite the current hearing loss.
Committing the request to memory Bernard stepped out onto the street and searched for a cab. “Where does he put it all?” The query struck him as he waited. “The diminutive Mr. Kim can sure pack away the food to eat all that. Perhaps he’s like a squirrel and will store most of it away for later in the day. Not like the man had much of an opportunity to step away from his post.”Either way, given the circumstances the Sensitive would have to change his itinerary slightly to accommodate the offer. There was no sense bringing back a bag full of cold food.
Sighting his mark he whistled for a taxi and waved a hand to get their attention. When the shuttle stopped he climbed into the back of the cab.
"Take me to the MegoMart heights please. "

Bernard stepped through the doorway and into the lobby of the Soaring Heights Apartments. Setting the takeout bag upon the counter he rang the bell for service. Mr. Kim promptly popped his head around the corner of his office entrance to acknowledge the arrival holding up a single finger signaling the generous tenant to wait. The Sensitive could see the reflection of the television in a mirror on the far side of the manager’s tiny space but was unable to make out what had captured his attention so intently. Without the benefit of his hearing he was currently at a loss.
“Time for another angle.” Bernard thought while attempting to read the mind of the captivated manager for some insight into the broadcast.
The apartment manager stood captivated by the report about the bank. He listened intently as the woman continued telling the news. ' -Currently the fire at the back alley of the bank has been put out, and no one seems to be seriously injured in the incident. Police currently have the streets leading to the bank blocked off and is not letting anyone get close to the scene. Sources say that they saw Powerflux enter the building early this morning, and that he may have intervened in the robbery last night to help put an end to the crime. At the moment Hydra corp. has HAZMAT guards stationed on the street along with the police and is not allowing anyone to enter the building until they know that it is safe, and that the explosion was not toxic. The bank manager does not yet have any comments for us, so all we can do is wait for more information about this vicious crime to come in. We will try to question the police to get some type of word out of them to learn who might be responsible for the crime, and maybe get a look at the inside of the bank to see how much damage was really done. We are not sure if this was a robbery or an act of terrorism. At the moment all we can do is watch from afar at the damage that was done. As you can see the roof of the building is slightly collapsed in, and there is a large hole in the back of the bank that leads to the vault. Earlier you could see a lot of smoke bellowing into the air, but that has since died down. We will have further coverage of the event tonight on the news and will go more in detail about what took place. This is Bianca Sai-'
The manager turned the TV off and walked to the desk to look at Bernard. "Oh my... Who would do such a thing?" He was clearly shaking with fear.

Bernard could see that Mr. Kim was visibly shaken by what he had witnessed on the news. While the Sensitive had little knowledge to the content of the broadcast he was aware that it had involved the bank and the manager feared the worst. Terrorism was the overwhelming thought that permeated his thoughts.
"Oh my... Who would do such a thing?" He asked of Bernard as he approached the desk. The lanky man shrugged sympathetically, unable to find the words that would address Mr. Kim’s concern.
“I did bring you the food you requested.” Bernard filled the awkward silence holding out the bag. “Not that you are likely to feel like eating with what you have just witnessed but it should still be warm. The driver mentioned during the cab ride the Café the bank was targeted??" ” Bernard made his way to the elevator as he concluded. “Well, try to enjoy your meal Mr. Kim. I think I go up to my apartment and follow the story myself.”

Nathan took the elevator down to the main halls and walked up to the front desk. He rapped his knuckles on the top of the counter a few times to get the manager's attention. When Kim came out from watching TV, Nathan gave a small tight lipped smile as a greeting. He held up a sealed envelop and placed it on the counter. "Here's the payment for rent. I'll see you later Mr.Kim, enjoy your day."
He walked out to the cold streets of Osiris and hailed a taxi cab. When one stopped he climbed in the back. "Hydra HQ please. Make it snappy. I'm late..."

Bernard arrived back at the Soaring Heights Apartments in the wee hours of the morning thankfully avoiding any potential conflicts with petty thugs or law enforcement he may have encountered along the way. Upon nearing the building, he had considered using his flight capabilities to gain access to his apartment via the balcony but he had seemed to have exhausted his super power reserves during the day’s earlier activities. The red headed fugitive armed with the knowledge that a Hydra trap may be in place took precautions as he reluctantly entered the lobby and made his way for the stairs.
Having been awake and active for the past eighteen hours it was only a matter of time before fatigue would set in. The Sensitive’s current inability to access his psychic talents which would alert him to any imminent danger would only add to his hardship. For the second time in as many nights he felt vulnerable, especially with the notion that Hydra may now be onto his trail. The only advantage that he had was to keep moving. It was hard to stop a rolling stone.
Upon reaching his apartment Bernard quickly gathered together his ill-gotten gains in preparation for a short visit to Club Exxel. It was his plan to exchange the vials and some cash to arm himself for the inevitable fight he would enter into against Hydra. Surely Carson could appreciate that and allow him access to the underground black market. That was, if the rumored commodities exchange even existed.
Emptying the fridge and a quick wipe down of the entire apartment hoping to erase any lingering fingerprints and the red headed fugitive was back on his way. This time however, Bernard made his way down the rear stairs, hailing a taxi to take him to the club when he had reached the street. Once at Exxel he paid the driver and carefully made his way back to a familiar refuge; the battered waste container located at the rear of the club. It was here he would get some much needed shut eye despite the mildly foul-smelling accommodations. With any luck it would be the double-crossing barkeep named Jarrod that would wake him from his slumber delivering the nightly trash to the receptacle.
