"How long was I missing before you circled back?” Bernard inquired. Wavelink shook her head.
"I'm not completely sure. 15 to 30 minutes I guess? I had to find the back door, hack it open, and then double back. We ran into a bit of trouble. The helicopter brought a hoard that we had to navi-" Before she could finish, the sound of machine gunfire erupted from the north east. Instinctively, the trio ducked ducked down from the sudden noise, but they were on the opposite side of the building to be in any real danger.
"Sounds like whoever was in that helicopter is still alive and in trouble. We should get inside while the Consumers are distracted." Wavelink pointed out. Bianca and Garrett didn't need to be told twice, they followed without question. Garrett guarded their rear while Wavelink lead the group forward. Bianca slowed down a bit to assist Bernard in case he needed help walking, still holding the camera to film the day's events.
As they walked to the back, they had to cross a large empty field that was surrounded by a metal fence, someone had previously melted a hole in the fencing with an acid like substance to make it easier to cross. When they reached the back of the building there was a large window that had been cracked and broken open, a bit of glass littered the ground. Wavelink stopped and looked to Bernard,
"This was hard to open because the power is still out, but we were able to break the window and I opened the door inside. It took a lot out of me because I didn't have the main power to hack the keypad. If we want to move further without any problems. I NEED the power on, otherwise I'll have to try and manually force the main generator to turn on and flick bits of current through the wires to remotely gain access to certain areas, but it is a brutal task from this distance. It is like trying to drag a tank with a rope from a hundred feet away."
((Wavelink hack security: 46+4 SP=success.))
"Right, so we get the power back on. First, let's just find a secluded room to hold up in to regroup." Garrett suggested.
"I agree. No one is in fighting shape and we would be no good in a fight at this point. Let's find some place safe while the monsters are distracted by the helicopter."
Wavelink slipped her night vision goggles on her head and climbed through the broken window, peering inside to look around. "I don't see anything. I think the room is clear... Let's go."
Garrett and Bianca followed and climbed inside and walked into the large empty dark room. There were a few desks, computers, plants and chairs, but otherwise the room appeared to be empty. Although it was pitch black inside due to the lack of power, there was also a slightly wet sticky substance on the floor in certain spots. There was the rotten smell of death and decay that lingered in the air.
Garrett whispered and spoke up. "Gosh that smell... I think this is some type of office or supply room. Where do we go from here?"
