-----.
Keiko crumpled in a defeated heap beside the dumpster to the revelation she witnessed.
Her heart raced.
A multitude of thoughts flooded her mind.
”No……no…..no” she muttered pulling out he phone and hitting speed dial.”This can’t be happening.”
”Come on….come on” She muttered impatiently waiting for the person on the other end to pick up.
”Kei???......Is everything alright???” the sleepy voice responded on the other end of the call.
”I found him. I found the glowing man!” Kei exclaimed in a hushed voice.))
”Wait! What???.....Where are you?” Merle inquired.
”I’m at the crime scene.”
”WHAT!!! Are you nuts! You’re supposed to be resting. Wait there. I’ll call it in. I’m on my way.” Merle replied hopping out of bed.
”No..no… I’ll handle this. You’ve got to stay away. I’ll pick you up in thirty.” Keiko informed her partner. ”I’ll explain everything then.”
”Don’t do anything ras…………..”
The transmission ended abruptly.
Keiko took several deep breaths trying to recover from her agitated state. ”Get it together.” She coached. ”Think.”
She had been chasing this demon for months. Now here it was, right in front of her, served up on a platter. The fact that glowing man and her uncle were one in the same didn’t change what needed to be done. She knew exactly what she needed to do. Not quite how she pictured it.
Confidently she stood. The man in the dumpster, her uncle Atsu, looked intently at his hands turning them from right to left as he began to solidify. He seemed oblivious to the presence of the masked female that was bringing the SD-99 she gripped and expertly aimed it at the designated target. The red laser dot of the sight attached to the side of the small fire arm precisely marked the location at the base of the skull.
She mouthed the eulogy and tear welled up in her eye as she gently squeezed the trigger ”Rest In Peace uncle”
There was a bright flash from the muzzle and a louder than expected BANG as the bullet discharged from the silencer equipped weapon. The deadly projectile readily found its mark piercing the back of the skull severing the spinal cord. Even at this range the small round was sure to loose enough momentum to exit the skull cavity where it would continue to bounce around shredding the soft brain tissue in its travels until it finally came to rest.
Instantaneous death was all but guaranteed.
