Decker looked up from the computer as Bernard verbally thought out loud. He wasn't a man of many words but he did speak up this time. "That doesn't sound too far fetched. Maybe our Mayor is already a clone..."
Bianca and Decker exchanged a look before he went back to work.
Before Bianca could speak the waitress returned and ask what they would like. "I'll stick with my previous order- Eggplant and Portobello Mushrooms."
It was now Decker's turn to order. He looked at the waitress and shook his head. "I'm not hungry..."
The waitress took their orders and told them she would be back with their food. Now that they were alone again Bianca spoke up. "I actually didn't even think about that. Hydra has the power to store data on their system. Who knows what knowledge they could have stolen and placed in their databank. Maybe that is what is on the laptop..."
She now looked to Decker. "What have you found so far?"
The man gave her a sideways glance and let off a sigh.
"I need to get passed a lot of their security. Hold on..."
((Take down first cyber wall: 94+20 (Tech head)= 114.
43+10 (level 10 system security)=53.
114-53=61. Hacking Success.))
Decker picked up the data uplink and connected his laptop to one end and the USB cable to the stolen laptop on the other end.
He opened a password breaker to crack the files. the program began going through the list of symbols, numbers and letters to find the password.
The security program tried to deactivate the hacking device, but Decker used his laptop to send an override command and shut it down. The first security wall was destroyed and the password went through.
"Alright. I got through the first one. I need to get down two more. Give me a second..."
((50+20=70 (Tech Head)
46+10 (security)= 56
70-56=14. The system won.))
The second wall was a lot more complex. He tried to use the same tactic for the next password, but the security wall was too tight and a lot more advanced. It sent a halt command to his data uplink and tried to shut it down. He attempted to counter the command, which would have worked but the security system had a secondary hidden line of code that told his data uplink to reboot.
The hacking device displayed an error message and froze up. While the data uplink was temporally shut down, the password cracker that was running was deactivated. The data uplink proceeded to reboot and all of the information for cracking the second password was lost.
The good news was, the password for the first wall was stored on Decker's laptop so he could skip cracking that one.
He let off an annoyed sigh.
Bianca frowned. "What just happened?"
"The system just blocked me out. I'll have to try again... This security system is top of the line. I hate to admit this but, whoever built this was a lot more skilled than I am. I can get it down, it just might take longer than I thought..." Decker replied.
